October To-Do

There's a little something for everyone in October, with parties, celebrations, and even a drop down a skyscraper in downtown Richmond! (click on each picture for more details)

On October 5th, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) will be hosting their annual Soiree at the Gallery at UNOS, 700 N. 4th Street in Richmond between 7-10pm. Featuring food from local chefs, and local beverages, it's sure to be a fun time while supporting UNOS.

Happy the Artist will be turning 70, and will be having a giant birthday bash with family-friendly entertainment at the historic Byrd Theater in Carytown on October 13th. This birthday celebration also kicks off the First Annual Make Someone Happy Day!

Held on October 18-19, with a media day on October 17th, this event has supporters donating at least $1000 to Special Olympics Virginia rappelling down all 400 feet of the Suntrust Building in downtown Richmond.

American Cancer Society's Cure By Design Richmond is a unique fashion show as all of the models are not just showing off the latest Men's, Women's, and Child's fashion, but also are all cancer survivors. The event will also include a silent auction with several fabulous prizes!

Upcoming: Week of 9/09-9/15

A couple of different events will be happening this week we take pride in being involved with:

This year, the World's Longest Truck Convoy for the Special Olympics will be rolling through the area on Saturday, September 15th.

Local Law Enforcement will essentially shut down parts of I-95 and I-295, starting at exit 98/Doswell, to allow for the Convoy to pass through on Saturday Morning.

Not only is this a fundraising event, but the idea is to raise awareness of Special Olympics Virginia and the athletes who compete. Visit http://www.torchrunva.com for more information.

The Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center in Powhatan, Virginia, provides a way for disabled Veterans to regain their physical strength and mental and emotional composure with honor and dignity through learning to ride horses.

Lonesome Dove provides a unique level of care to our Veterans at no cost, but that also means the center is in need of donations to continue operation.

Because of this, Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center will be having their annual fundraising party, which includes a horseshoe tournament, Brunswick stew, and a silent auction.

Visit our Facebook events page for more details on this event, including cost and location!
